🔬 Research (Our Work and Philosophy)

Our research philosophy focuses on generating new, actionable knowledge that informs policy, practice, and ultimately, public health outcomes.

  • Community-Led Inquiry: We prioritize research questions developed in partnership with communities and service users, ensuring our studies address real-world issues and reflect diverse cultural contexts.

  • Methodological Rigour: We employ a range of robust methodologies, including both qualitative and quantitative designs, to ensure findings are reliable, valid, and provide a comprehensive understanding of complex health issues.

  • Focus on Equity: Our research is underpinned by a commitment to health equity, actively seeking to identify drivers of inequality and test interventions that reduce disparities across populations.

  • Knowledge Mobilisation: Research is not complete until it is used. We prioritize effective knowledge translation by producing accessible reports, policy briefs, and presentations to get findings into the hands of decision-makers.

  • Ethical Partnership: All research adheres to the highest ethical standards, emphasizing transparency, participant confidentiality, and respectful collaboration with all partners involved.

We offer all types of research including qualitative, qualitative, mixed methods, need assessment and staff health and wellbeing surveys to design wellbeing interventions.

Evaluation Research (Our Work and Philosophy)

Our approach to evaluation is rooted in the principles of learning, improvement, and accountability, drawing heavily on frameworks like the Evaluation Support Scotland (ESS) evaluation pathway.

  • Clarity of Purpose (Why Evaluate?): We start by clearly defining the need for the evaluation—whether it is for funding accountability, service improvement, or future planning—ensuring the process is targeted and efficient.

  • Theory of Change (What Will Be Measured?): We work with partners to develop or refine their Theory of Change (ToC). This clearly maps out how activities are expected to lead to outcomes, providing the blueprint for measurement.

  • Fit-for-Purpose Methods (How to Measure?): We select evaluation methods (e.g., surveys, focus groups, case studies) that are proportionate to the scale of the intervention and culturally appropriate for the participants.

  • Learning and Feedback Loops (Using the Findings): Our evaluations are designed to be practical. We emphasize feeding findings back to staff and stakeholders quickly to enable real-time adjustments and continuous quality improvement.

  • Demonstrating Impact (Telling the Story): We help organisations tell their story of change clearly, distinguishing between outputs, outcomes, and long-term impact, satisfying the needs of funders and service users alike.

We offer all types of evaluation consultancy including Mid-term Reviews, Process Evaluation, Formative Evaluation, Impact Evaluation etc.
